Eagles Sign TE Richard Rodgers

With the departure of Brent Celek and Trey Burton, the Eagles’ need for a back-up tight end is a glaring roster concern.

Fortunately, the team helped alleviated that concern today by signing former Green Bay Packer tight end, Richard Rodgers, to a one-year deal.

After a good season in 2015 (58 receptions for 510 yards and 8 touchdowns) Rodgers’ production dropped dramatically (only 12 receptions in 2017). However, at only 26 years old, hopefully the Eagles can make some adjustments to get Rodgers back to his 2015 form.

The one-year deal makes this a nice, low-risk signing for the Birds. I’m sure the team will still heavily consider selecting a tight end in the later rounds of the draft, but for now, Rodgers will be slotted in as the second tight end behind Zach Ertz.
