Update 4/19/18: According to Jeff McLane of Philly.com, the Eagles are now rumored to host the Falcons week 1, NOT the Vikings.

According to a tweet from Howard Eskin of Sports Radio WIP, the Eagles will open the 2018 season at home against the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, September 6th.

Though Eskin only cites “sources” (the NFL has yet to officially release the 2018 schedule) this match-up makes sense for the league to select as the season opener.

The Vikings will be looking for revenge against the Eagles after getting humiliated in the NFC Championship game 38-7 and subsequently watching the Eagles win the Super Bowl in Minnesota two weeks later.

Additionally, fans around the league will be eager to see how Kirk Cousins looks as the Vikings new QB.  Playing with the Redskins his entire career, Cousins is familiar with the Eagles, though the same can be said for the Eagles being familiar with Cousins.

Finally, I’m assuming the Eagles will have a Super Bowl banner-raising ceremony prior to kick-off.  Needless to say, the Linc will be rockin’.
